The journal
Notes from the bench.
Occasional writing from the workshop about how candles are made, cared for, and lit, and about the people who grow what goes into them. Published when there is something to say, which is less often than a marketing calendar would like.
Brownies & Ice Cream: the research report
Thirty-one pours, a closed Civic, one biscuit, and a jar on the high shelf. The times, the weights, and the thirty-seven cents.
Introducing Brownies & Ice Cream
Fourteen months, thirty-one test pours, and one very clear label. Our first new house scent since 2019.
Our first Young Pourers birthday party
Seven guests, fourteen candles, one cake, and a full post-mortem. A press release from the pour room.
The first burn is the one that matters
Most of what goes wrong with a candle goes wrong in its first two hours. Here is how to get them right.
A morning at the apiary
Once a year, Martin drives to Two Rock with a clipboard to see where our beeswax comes from. He has been told the clipboard is unnecessary.
Notes from a 212-foot table
The Sonoma Harvest Supper asked us to light one table down the full length of a barn. We said yes before anyone measured it.
Letters from the workshop
Four a year, on paper.
We tried email once and found we had nothing to say every week. Instead we send four letters a year, at each change of season, with the new pours, a recipe, and whatever June has been reading. Leave your address at the counter. We will not share it, sell it, or use it for anything but the letters.
