Bought Brownies & Ice Cream on Saturday. It smells exactly like brownies and ice cream. I took a small bite. It is wax.

    I feel this was misleading.

I did not eat mine. I would like that on the record again.

Oh no. I’m sorry this sat over the weekend; it was the first post I read this morning. Are you alright? Soy wax is non-toxic, but it isn’t something we want anyone eating, and please call your doctor if you feel at all unwell.

We would also really like to make this right.

We have reviewed the label. It currently says “Not food” on the lid, on the bottom of the glass, and on the box insert. The team discussed adding it to the side of the glass as well, and concluded the problem is not frequency but font size.

Starting with batch 26-131, “Not food” will be printed the same size as “Brownies & Ice Cream.” We have a proof. It is, in fairness, very confusing to read.

I would add that this is, in its way, the highest compliment a scent can receive. I have been trying to get someone to bite a candle since 2014.

Please don’t do it again. But thank you.

Lit this at a dinner party and two guests asked when dessert was coming. There was no dessert. This thread has made me feel seen.

Respectfully, I think it needs a childproof lid. I have three kids and the youngest would 100% eat this.

That is a completely reasonable concern, and thank you for saying it kindly. We recommend keeping every candle, ours included, out of reach of children and pets.

We don’t make a childproof lid yet. Martin is researching it, and he is a very thorough researcher (see every other thread on this forum).

Update: I ordered six childproof lids from three suppliers and tested them at home. My children were unable to open any of them. Neither was I. Neither, after some time, was my wife.

Results pending. We will not ship a lid that adults cannot open, because then nobody can light the candle, and we would have solved the wrong problem very effectively.

In the meantime, I am including a small handwritten card in every Brownies & Ice Cream box that reads “Dessert is not included.” I’ve written 340 so far.

My handwriting is getting worse, but the message is getting firmer.

It wasn’t your fault! It was a very convincing candle. We’ll take that.
