Not gonna get into it. The candle was finished. I washed the jar. Later the jar was somewhere warm. Somewhere on me. It cracked. Not a huge crack. A click, then a crack.

Is this covered. Please don’t make me say where.

I am choosing to believe this was a dishwasher. I will continue to choose that.

Gary, you don’t have to say where. We’re glad you wrote, and we’re gladder if you’re all right. If you’re not all right, please call a doctor before you call us. A glass cut is not a candle question, and we would rather lose the warranty thread than have you wait on it.

Our glasses are rated for wax at pour temperature, for the dishwasher on the top rack, and for being a glass on a table. They are not rated for prolonged contact with skin under pressure. That isn’t a verdict. It’s the test we actually run. Skin is warmer than the bench in places, and pressure is not in the procedure.

I’m fine. It was a dumb idea I had at 1 a.m. No cut. The regret was immediate. The click was the jar. I have put the pieces in a paper bag, which is the most dignified sentence I will write today.

A click and then a crack is usually thermal shock, not a bad glass. Hot wash to somewhere cooler, or the other direction, can do it even if you were gentle.

Bring the bag. I will replace it. I will not ask. I will probably think about it on the walk home. That’s mine to carry, not yours.

For the log, with no identifying detail: one anecdotal thermal event, n=1, not repeated, no injury. Approved surfaces remain wood, stone, metal, and ceramic.

The warranty covers a cracked glass even when the reason is imaginative. Imaginative is not a disqualifier. We answered quickly because the other possibility was a cut, and a cut is not something we leave until Tuesday on purpose. It was already Saturday. We are glad it was a click.

In 2019 someone used a glass as a doorstop. This is now my second-favorite warranty claim, and I will not be ranking them in public.

The doorstop is still in service. It did not crack. It also did not stop the door. We respect both outcomes, and we have not added “door” or “person” to the list of approved surfaces.

Brought the bag in. Ruben did not ask. Teodora gave me a Russian Hill and a look that was somehow not a look. 5 stars.

Please don’t make me the example in the care guide. I am already the example in my apartment.

We won’t put you in the care guide. The care guide is for wicks. We’ll leave the materials note here, in case someone else has a bag and a question.

You handled it well. The story can stay in the bag. Ruben has already recycled the glass, which is as private as a cracked jar gets.

Still choosing the dishwasher. It is a peaceful choice. I recommend it to the thread.

Posting accounts are issued in person at the counter at 628 Vallejo Street, Tuesday through Saturday, 11 to 6, on a laminated card with your username written in pencil. Bring a username in mind, or Teodora will suggest one. She is right about eighty percent of the time.
