Why did you need to stress test forty candles

First and most importantly: we are so glad everyone is okay, including your neighbor, who sounds like a good neighbor.

Please, nobody do this. Our care guide asks for one candle per surface, never unattended, at least three inches from anything. We would add: not forty, and not in a garage.

For context, our largest lighting was the 212-foot table at the Sonoma Harvest Supper: 140 glasses, 280 guests, nine staff, two extinguishers, and a permit. That is a ratio of one adult per half a candle.

Your garage test was forty candles to one adult. We do not recommend comparing your garage to the Sonoma Harvest Supper, though we are flattered.

Firefighter here. Not the crew that responded, different district. Seconding everything above.

Also, this shop sent our station a box of unscented candles last year “for the break room, for emergencies.” We thought it was a joke until a power outage in March. Good people.

That was a real box! They’re from our 2016 run of Unscented. We had some left over, and they were always meant for emergencies, in a sense.

We did, and we gave them to the firefighters, which we think you’d agree is the right home. But please check the petition thread. There is news.

Thank you. If you would like to do a stress test properly, come to the pour room on a Tuesday. We will show you how we burn-test: five glasses, one at a time, on a steel table, with Ruben watching.

It is very boring. We would love to have you.

We’ve written “Ruben is goated” on a card and pinned it in the pour room. He asked what it means. We told him it’s good.

Posting accounts are issued in person at the counter at 628 Vallejo Street, Tuesday through Saturday, 11 to 6, on a laminated card with your username written in pencil. Bring a username in mind, or Teodora will suggest one. She is right about eighty percent of the time.
